The center for high quality Reconstructive Surgery in Munich

Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty dedicated to reconstruction of facial and body defects due to birth disorders, trauma, burns and disease. Plastic surgery is intended to correct dysfunctional areas of the body and is reconstructive in nature.

In our commitment to providing the highest clinic care available, our team of excellent surgeons offers:

  • Microsurgical tissue transplantation: Muscle transplants can be used to cover large defects anywhere on the body caused by an accident, burn, or disease. We use similar tissue from other body sites and transplant them by means of microsurgical techniques. The procedure may have aesthetic value but is designed to restore function as well.

  • Free lymph node transplantation: A procedure to treat lymphedema of the extremities – legs and arms. We were the very first university hospital in Germany to offer such treatment.

  • Facial Palsy: A form of facial paralysis resulting from damage or trauma to the facial nerves. Our expert team of surgeons can treat patients suffering from facial paralysis by a nerve transfer procedure called motoric replacement operations such that the patient regains formerly lost functions.

  • Free nerve transplantation: We can treat nerve injuries either with direct nerve suturing, if the lesion is only days or weeks old, or through a surgical technique called free nerve transplantation for nerve injuries where the lesion is older.

  • Complex and chronic wounds: We are only one of the few wound centers in Germany that offer pioneering, patient individualized wound healing therapies for complex and potentially life-threatening chronic, non-healing wounds.

  • Brachial plexus injuries or lesions: Whether as a result of shoulder trauma, tumors, or inflammation, we can treat such complex nerve injuries.

  • Breast reconstruction: We specialize in breast reconstruction, which also includes reconstruction of the breast after tumor surgery, deformities, asymmetries of the mammary gland and nipple, and gynecomastia.

  • Skin cancer: Major defects resulting from surgical skin cancer resection can be reconstructed according to the required form and function, especially in the facial area.
